TRP Congratulates UNH: A Trailblazer in Sustainability
At The Recycled Planet Company (TRP), sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s the foundation of everything we do. That’s why we are thrilled to congratulate the University of New Hampshire (UNH) on earning the highest national rating for sustainability for the third consecutive time. Achieving the STARS Platinum Rating from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education is no small feat, and UNH is now one of only eight institutions in the entire country—and the only one in New England—to hold this prestigious designation.
This milestone is more than just a title; it’s a testament to UNH’s leadership in tackling some of the planet’s most pressing challenges.
Why This Matters
As UNH’s President Elizabeth Chilton puts it:
“Sustainability is a core priority of UNH. It is one of our top research strengths, vital to our educational programming and informs every aspect of our daily operations. It helps drive our success and impact as a university.”
These words resonate deeply with us at TRP. Much like UNH, we believe that real change comes from integrating sustainability into every aspect of our work—from the materials we source to the products we create.
By holding themselves accountable through STARS, UNH isn’t just setting the standard for sustainability in higher education; they’re proving that institutions can actively lead the way in creating a better future for all of us.
Celebrating a Shared Mission
TRP shares a unique bond with UNH. Our founder and president, Stephen Weisbuch, built his passion for environmental stewardship while studying and living in New Hampshire during the 1970s. This passion ultimately led to the creation of TRP, where we’re on a mission to craft outerwear that’s as stylish as it is sustainable.
UNH’s incredible achievement reflects the hard work of its Sustainability Institute, governance bodies, and the dedicated students, faculty, and staff who make up the university’s thriving sustainability community. These efforts align perfectly with TRP’s values of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
The Power of Collective Action
Just as UNH’s sustainability efforts depend on a network of changemakers, TRP’s work wouldn’t be possible without the partnerships we’ve cultivated. From sourcing recycled materials to collaborating with ethical manufacturers, every step we take is informed by the same drive that fuels UNH’s commitment to excellence.
We’re especially inspired by UNH’s plans to create a 10-year Sustainability Vision and Plan by 2025. This forward-thinking initiative aligns with our belief that real change requires long-term planning and continuous improvement.
A Message of Congratulations
On behalf of everyone at The Recycled Planet Company, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to UNH for this incredible achievement. Your work proves that sustainability isn’t just possible—it’s transformational.
Together, we can continue to raise the bar, redefine what’s possible, and inspire others to take action. We’re proud to work toward a future where innovation and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
Best wishes,
Stephen Weisbuch
